Re: How to activate a hardware alarm on AIS event

I have OpenPlotter on my RPi, dAISy hat and a small hardware piezo siren connected to one of the Pi GPIO.

Is it possible to make OpenCPN create an event based on some AIS event (e.g. AIS CPA alarm) that can be sent to Signal K server so I can then use OpenPlotter to create an action on my GPIO and sound the alarm? Or maybe there's another way to do that?
I don't know if you are aware that Ocpn_draw_pi works in conjunction with Watchdog_pi to use Guard Zones and Boundaries to activate alarms from ships using AIS. I suggest you investigate this resource.

I believe the activation of an alarm, then uses a small sound program dependent on the OS.

You might not need to send a signalk message. you could just run the gpio program, it depends on exactly what you want.
In which version of the watchdog_pi is the AIS alarm configurable? Could not find anything related to AIS in version 2.1.

Can't seem to be able to setup watchdog on a P3 with openplotter, window isn't big enough and tab doesn't seem to move the focus away from the GUID text box...

The alarm is a boundary alarm. There is an "AIS guard zone" I have never used it. Not sure it can do what you want.

Can't figure out how to do any kind on watchdog boundary alarm on a Pi3/openplotter - window isn't big enough to set all the options or click OK. The other alarms seem fine.

Re: How to activate a hardware alarm on AIS event

You must set up the Boundary or Guard Zone using ocpn_draw. Then you will want to copy the guid to a new alarm in watchdog.

The two manuals wd and ocpn_draw are useful. Suggest you read.

Both GZ and B work with AIS alerts.

Yeah I have the same problem. I will try making this in a scroll window to make it possible.

Yes, I understand about RPI, but this is the idea.

This is quite common on the Rpi with small screens. There are two solutions.

1. Connect via WiFi with a larger screen resolution
2. You can move the partially hidden windows around the screen by various methods. One is right click on the title bar, position the cursor somewhere useful, hit "M" and move the window.

Ta but doesn't work unfortunately. The Pi has a 19" monitor, it's not the screen size but the pop up window itself is too small and there seems to be no way to scroll or resize it. Moving the pop up window doesn't help.

Ahh OK.. I thought you guys were describing something similar to what happens with the waypoint editing sub-window on small monitors where the window doesn't fit entirely on small monitors and moving the window does allow you to get to all parts of it.

Following along

Re: How to activate a hardware alarm on AIS event

Isn´t there an alarm that can be set on AIS-choises for the ship?

My best
