Charts for Bahamas for openCPN

I have read the threads concerning charts for the Bahamas on this forum, and I am still unclear on how to obtain electronic charts for the Bahamas that openCPN can use.

A link to free electronic charts for the Bahamas would be very much appreciated, but if I have to pay for the charts then I will.

I have navionics charts in my chart plotter that worked great for me while in the Bahamas, I also have navionics charts that I down loaded to my I phone that worked great as well, the down load for the I phone was 5 or 6 bucks. The charts that I have in my back up Raymarine unit are crap compared to the Navionics charts IMHO. Might try doing a search for Navionics.

To the best of my knowledge, Navionics is not compatible with the OpenCPN system the OP was asking about.

Connie has them on The Capt CDs if they would work we would be glad to copy for ya ! ??

What do you mean by "them" , what electronic charts are you referring to?

Them, The charts you were asking for ! the Bahamas, from the coast of fla, and all the Islands of the bahama chain and the stuff around it Cuba ect ect ! don't know if these will work with your sysyem ! I don't use her stuff to much so you would need to ask somebody that knows more then we do !

If you're using windows, you should be able to buy chart from "nv-charts" or "maptech". Both have coverage of the Bahamas, and both works through plugins, available on the opencpn.org download page.

I bought the nv-charts and they come with a CD and like Cagney said they do work with the plug-in. At least in version 3.02 of openCPN. I downloaded one of the betas a few months ago and the charts did not work with the beta.

Does anybody know if this problem has been corrected? Will the nvc plug-in work in the current beta version 3.1.1206.

The Bahamas nv-charts DO work with the latest beta!
