AIS SR162 Receiver Not Working With OCPN?

Hi all.

I can not seem to connect the latest beta version of OCPN with my
ST162 AIS receiver. I have tried all sorts of settings but no messages arriving?
It is working normally with my Fugawi Navigator on COM3 and baud rate 56400.

I am also using a network IP/port contact with OCPN that works normally.

Both options are installed as priority 1 and 2 but only the option required is ticked as active.

Appreciate suggestions...

Regds

Re: AIS SR162 RECEIVER NOT WORKING WITH OCPN?

Hi.

That device has a serial interface, according to this site (that is the correct one, isn't it ?).
If it is, how did you connect it to your system (use an adapter or direct) ?
Did you monitor the output of it by some terminal program ?
Did you set the baud rate to 38,400 ?
How do you power the device (you might experience some ground loop) ?

Here are a couple of illustrations showing my setup and the display from my IP/Port connection ONLY. The USB data from my AIS receiver does not show.

Re: AIS SR162 Receiver Not Working With OCPN?

Tore...
In your previous posts you talk about COM3, but in the settings have a port called "Garmin-USB" configured. That is not COM3 and I'm pretty sure your receiver is not connected to it as it is not a Garmin GPS device. If COM3 is not offered in the dropdown (and you are still sure that the receiver is connected to it), enter it manually. And also remember that only one program at a time can use a serial port, so you have to quit Fugawi and whatever else before OpenCPN can receive the data.

Re: AIS SR162 Receiver Not Working With OCPN?

Hi again and good morning here...

I have been trying different setting,COM3 and the Garmin USB but noe of them work. I have COM3 port connected with a conversion RS232/USB cable
which works perfectly f.ex. with Fugawi.

I also have an IP/Port feed from an external source which also works
perfectly with OCPN.

I know I can only use ONE of the ´tickable´options at the time.

Appreciate your suggestions as MY particular coastline is not covered by my IP source.

Regds

If it is COM3, set COM3. No need to play with everything you can click on. The screenshot you posted shows a clearly wrong configuration.

Do not understand what a "tickable" option is. What I said is you must not run two different programs using a serial port at the same time.

Anyway, if it still does not work, post your logfile, screenshot of the Windows device manager, and all the other relevant info.

Re: AIS SR162 Receiver Not Working With OCPN?

Hi again.. I am not ´playing with anything I can click on´ merely trying all options. COM3 is connected via an RS232/USB cable to my SR162 but no data is displayed in OCPN.

Thanks for your tips

Re: AIS SR162 Receiver Not Working With OCPN?

Excellent coverage of Costa Verde today from two simultaneous sources,my AIS receiver and an IP/Port source over internet.

I often have problems recovering OCPN page after using the browser, having previously placed it in the background. Ends up having to re-boot the PC.
