Maybe OpenCPN needs to be the better company and open an honest dialogue here. Someone needs to take the first step and determine a viable solution. Frankly I don't care who it is.

I've contributed to Active Captain, but there are others too. Try Squiddio and Goodharbor plugins they have merit. There is room for others in this space.

I think the 4 points raised are reasonable and the last two must absolutely be resolved. I believe the action required is in AC hands and would require improvements to their API.
