There are a few places on the SF Bay
where you can get out from behind a wind
shadow like Alcatraz or Angel Island and the wind
can go from a few knots to 35 knots in a matter of less than a minute. This is pretty typical in the summer. This of course has nothing to do with the weather
and all to do with geography.
