Wind Sensor on Mizzen Good Idea?

Hello

We are a cruising family and we want to install a wind sensor st 40 only 20 m (66 ft) of cable. I cannot install it on the main wire to short

What is my best choice

1 buy and extension for the wire
2 return it and buy a st60 98 ft of wire
3 install it on the mizzen

The jib and the main will interfere with getting an accurate reading, especially as you head to windward. Putting it on the mizzen won't give you what you are looking for.

'good advice from Maren. I have a wind generator high on my mizzen. I had expected it to provide sufficient power to account for my autopilot draw when sailing, but many sailing points disturb the wind at this area. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew

Recommend option 2, then 1. Forget 3. How will you ever be able to sail on the relative wind at night if your instruments are reading the deflected wind off your main. The wind reading on the mizzen is OK on a broad reach or down wind only.
