Hands are free and calls with same provider also free.

We are a two Decker so I can't see or hear what's happening below for docking but we do use signals for anchoring.
Do you always anchor within range of your cell provider?

I don't use walkie-talkies for anchoring because they are too light and they don't have a place to attach the chain.

Seriously, my boat is small enough that we don't need electronic communications. Yelling and hand signals simplify things. Nothing to recharge or drop overboard and no buttons to push.
Thats awsome. I use an old tube radio from heathkit for anchoring. But the ebay add said it was a boat anchor.

If you read the post again you will see that we don't use it for anchoring, only docking and all docks are in populated areas and have cell reception.

Re: What walkie-talkies do you use for anchoring?

I have used the headset with boom mike units with great success. Terrific for communicating when doing repairs in remote parts of the boat,or from the masthead, without having to shout. Recently, however, my next door neighbor, who makes a popular wireless microphone PA system, pointed out the growing controversy over Blue Tooth frequencies and brain cancer. His company is about to release a headset unit that operates at a safer frequency. I gave him my spare set to tear apart and reverse engineer. He promises me a replacement with his own design when it comes out.
