WAAS update?

Got a bit of news (to me any way) about WAAS and my friendly GPS. I was told that there were a couple of satellites that were going out of services and a couple new ones were coming on line. The word was Garmin and Raymarime would be putting out patches for their units. I have no clue as to how many satellites there are up there and how two being changed will impact the wonderful world of WAAS. I went to the Raymarine site and found this-

Changes to the US WAAS System and Impact on Raymarine GPS Products
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently decommissioned two WAAS GPS satellites (PRN 122 and PRN 134), and the activated two replacement satellites (PRN 135 and PRN 138). The WAAS firmware in certain Raymarine products does not recognize satellites 135 or 138

I went to the Garmin site but didn’t find any straight forward mention of it. Any body know any thing else. Don’t know how it all will effect the rest of the wonderful word of WAAS but guess the will be more to come.

Raymarine has patches or will soon have patches for their gps and the new satellites. Go to their site. Here's the URL for C & E series.

I installed the Raymarine 4.26 v for the C series. It contains changes to the software that expand it's capabilities and fixes the WAAS problem.

Patches for this type of change are easy to make. Personally, When I started there was no SA and then there was. Without SA, WASS is a luxury. You notice it most with speed over ground readings. Like you tell if you were 10m off on position? Just be glad SA is turned off.

Depends on the manufacturer/receiver. My old Garmin Map76s found satellite #51 (prn 138) just fine with no firmware upgrade and I also know the older Garmin 152 will do the same. Just give it some time and see if it will find it on your satellite screen.
