We have just set up an AIS vessel monitoring station here in the Costa Verde,Brazil and can follow the movements of all vessels equipped with AIS transponders. Many yachting areas and marinas are now covered by an AIS network, now also available to you over the internet wherever you are. A great facility to follow the movements of your yacht at all times as well as those of your friends.
As many of the larger Mediterranean ports have AIS coverage, I can actually sit here in Brazil and monitor vessel movements in Monaco and Cannes. For a well found motor yacht, an AIS transponder (with GPS) is a MUST and rememeber, you can switch it off when you want to.
