Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

I have a Raymarine ST50 style (Black Case) Depth Display that is slowely losing its ability to be read by the person at the helm. I have asked Raymarine but this is a retired model and they want me to buy the new ST60+ which is grey and has a very diferent wiring. As I have 3 other ST50 Displays I would rather find another Black Case ST50 or have this repaired. Can anyone suggest where I can have it repaired or know of a aftermarket manufacturer? I have found a used one on line in Europe but am a little concerned that after paying $120 that what I get won't be working either.

Thanks for the help and advice!

I think you may have misposted this in the OpenCPN forum. Try to get the mods to move it for you to the correct place.

Also I have the same problem but no solution. I you find a source for repair or replacement please share!

Sorry, I thought I was in a different thread, but I will comment if I find someone to repair or replace the display. When Raymarine changed to the new version they also changed the wiring scheme which means you almost have to change all the instruments to get them to plug and play. Bummer!!

I have St 50 and St 60 working together on sea talk. “Ask Raymarine” about your problem.

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

You can cut off the proprietary connections and splice the wires. I have done that in the past to create a mixed system of ST50 and ST60 instruments when an ST50 depthsounder died. Or you can bid on my new unused ST50 on ebay - closes today.

I was on Ebay and didn't find it, only one in Europe. I will look again and make a bid!
Thanks!!

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

I looked again for a Raymarine ST50 Depth Display and still get no finds. Is it listed differently than shown?

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

Did you find that the same transducer works with the ST60 Depth Display? The splicing of the wires isn't a big deal. I was also trying to keep the same color scheme. Thanks for the input, it looks like I might have to do just what you indicated.

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

The transducer works just fine with either ST50 or ST60. The instrument I'm selling on ebay is an Autohelm ST50 - the predecessor company. It has the paddlewheel transducer as well as the instrument.

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

Airmar still makes the ST50 transducer but repair of the display head is very unlikely. A used head can be found. The wiring is as likely as not the problem.

Re: Raymarine ST50 Depth Display

Roger,

You are in luck. I have a brand new st 50 I bought on ebay last fall for $200. It was a display model that a marina had in old inventory. I used it only on about five sails. It works perfectly. I just bought an st 60 depth for the same reason you want an st 50. The st 60 matches my other 3 instruments. If you are willing to buy it for what I paid plus shipping it is yours. You can contact me at yikes47@aol.com
