Lewmar Autopilot

I am helping a neighbor fix an Lewmar Autopilot... I know I am no great autopilot savior by any stretch of the imagination however we are in a bind.

We pulled the drive unit out of the binnacle. The motor runs and everything else spins freely however the clutch does not engage. We put a volt meter on it and there is no current going to the clutch.

I am wondering if anyone out there knows when there should be current going to the clutch and how much? Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
