Last Set of Batteries Using More Water

Hi
I have 4 x 6v Golf cart batteries wired in series/parallel. The pos feed goes to the pos terminal on the first batt and the neg goes to the neg terminal on the second batt. My problem is that the 3rd and 4th batts use much more water (4 times as much) compared to the first 2 batts.
regards
Mark

Mark,

Not sure I understand your post. But, here's how to correctly wire four 6-volt golf-cart batteries in series/parallel.

Re: Last Set of Batteries Using More Water

I have the second set of 2 batts wired in series and paralling with the first set which are also wired in series. The second set uses much more water than the first set. The charger feeds directly to the first set and parallels to the second set. I hope that I am making sense
Thanks
M

Re: Last Set of Batteries Using More Water

You want to take power off the nearest and the farthest battery posts.

That means, use the positive post on battery number one, and the negative post of battery number four.

You do NOT want to take power off of just one pair if you can help it.

Be very sure that you are using high quality, large cabling between the batteries. I prefer AWG 1/0 or larger, with professionally installed lugs. All connections must be very clean and very tight.

Wing nuts are a no-no. You can't get them tight enough.

Re: Last Set of Batteries Using More Water

I will take the neutral off the 4th batt.
Many thanks for your advise.
