Icom Tuner

Gangs, I picked up an Icom M700 SSB radio, works ok and the price was good. It will be my first try at SSB.

Here is my question:

Will an Icom AH-4 tuner work with this radio? I know the AT 120 is the unit suggested. What is the difference? What Icom tuners could work in a water proof area?

Hi Fletch:

You should check yourself, but I think the M700 puts out 150 watts, and the AH-4 can only handle 120. If so, you'll burn it up if you use it with the M700.

Hmm... don't have the M700 manual at hand but check the menu options as the M802 lets you select various tuners in the setup.

Of course you can always adjust the RF power out of the M700 down to 120 Watts.

Hopefully some of the true Icom experts will chime in soon
