I don't think you will get an alarm via the MA-500TR. The MOB has been designed to send an DSC alarm via your VHF (selected models only). On my MA-500TR the MOB does show up but not really as something that triggers an alarm on either the MA-500TR or the attached Raymarine Plotter.
So you get notified via the VHF once the liferaft inflates and the AIS then helps you locate the person by showing the position of the device/person

Selected models? I will have to some research then..
Thanks for the quick response.

Til yet, none of the icom equipment gives an alarm at AIS plb 's or beacons. Only Standard Horizon Gx2200 does the job at this moment. We tested this in our workshop last week.

The MOB1 works well with most DSC equipment but not all of them . Not every manufacturer reads the international regulations at the same way. :-(

Re: Icom MA-500TR CLASS B AIS

How about a Vesper Marine WatchMate 850, WatchMate Vision or XB-8000 AIS transponder instead?

All of these will trigger an alarm when the MOB1 is activated.

In the case of the WatchMate 850 and Vision it will show the MOB directly on its integrated screen and give you an alarm and trackback.

In the case of the XB-8000 it will trigger a dedicated alarm/buzzer/etc directly attached to the unit and also show it on mobile phones and tablets.

Sorry for the product plug, but thought you might want to know if you don't already.
