Garmin Video Port / Computer Connection

Does anyone know if a computer can be connected to a Garmin 5212 to use it as a monitor when needed?

Would avoid having to buy a daylight screen for the computer if this can be done.

The 5212 outputs VGA video for display on an external monitor. It had 2 video inputs (RCA jacks) which accepts standard NTSC video. There is no provision to display VGA video on the 5212, only standard NTSC video from a video camera, vcr, etc.

You can buy an adapter to convert VGA to NTSC signal. Haven't used one but see them out there.

Just realize that your resolution will be limited by what composite NTSC can do - i.e. 640x480 is about it... Depending on what you want to do with it, this may or may not be acceptable.
