Re: Drones for Cruisers

See what happens when you let a thread die?

In the meantime I've looked at aerostats. There are some hobby ones around, but for the cruiser one has to deal with more wind than the landbound ones can take.

For extended endurance and protection of investment one simply has to keep it tethered...and keep it cheap and compact at the same time. I'll be looking into lifting bodies next, and simple and safe hydrogen generation.

In the meantime, let's consider that drones can go underwater too....the Open ROV for instance.

OpenROV | Underwater Exploration Robots

About $900 US in mid-2015 prices for a kit, or $1350 for a complete adventure package, and a global community of developers. The possibilities are many.

Best cruiser drone on the market! (WATERPROOF) HexH2O

I've researched this topic in depth for quite a while a couple months back. Without worrying about price, I believe the HexH2O is the best drone for cruisers. It's got 6 blades and a heavy duty housing that's all waterproof. You can fly the thing in the rain. The main calling feature though, is the fact that you can land it in the water and kinda like, motor around by tilting the blades. The drone is set up for use with a GoPro and gimbal which rest under the water level. This allows you to land and view the bottom of the ocean -within reason obviously- and that allows a little more excitement and all that.

The HexH2O is -USD $3,785- complete with gps, gimbal, black pearl controller, and much more, all set and ready to fly. You can also buy the main components in a DIY kit for -USD $995- (does not include much more than the necessities)

You can also buy the QUADH2O for slightly less.

Waterproof Multirotors. Fly in the rain or over water with the QuadH2o and HexH2o

Re: Drones for Cruisers

I just started selling waterproof drones in my store. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to fly one yet. I hope to get the chance later this week.
This is the brand I'm selling: Ready To Fly Drones | Urban Drones

Thanks Zephyrs! Cool, a drone that does air and water. Throw some wheels on it and one is well on the way to a robotic seagull. Just think of the possibilities...noelex won't be risking hypothermia, for one!

Re: Drones for Cruisers

Rusty, That's the one I'm selling in my store. Looks very cool. It comes with everything you need to get started except the camera. It comes in a very nice metal case.

The kit also includes a payload release. You take the camera mount off, install the release and it will lift and drop on command up to two pound objects. I'm thinking water balloons. They're thinking life rings.

While I was typing this Ryan from Urban Drones dropped off three more units.
He didn't bring a demo model for me to play with. He said he'd bring one on Friday.
