Cheap Maps for Furuno?

I am leaning towards fitting a Furuno Navnet 3D based system on the new boat. Apparently some local (Australia) charts come with it, but I want to eventually work my way to the Med. Is there any way of buying a "worldwide chart" without having to pay the huge prices of buying each little map along the way? What's the best way out of this without spending thousands on charts for areas I might be just travelling through once in my lifetime?

You can get a free worldwide C-Map basemap for the world. Every detailed region of charts is going to cost money. There's no way around that.

It will cost lots of money. And remember you only want to buy the CMap Charts from Mapmedia...Furuno's own charting company. Nothing else will work.
