You can get basic sailing lessons at Puerto Galera Yacht Club, which is not far from Manila.

I'll second Puerto galera, the guys at the yacht club are great, its a very safe place to learn the basics and leave the boat.

Re: island hopping in Philippines

Hey John here from Bowen Island BC. currently in the Philippines Puerto Galera
I will be in Manila soon until the end of March so not alot of time. I am a sailor and owner of a Miller 44' cutter. I would be happy to go out with you if we could work it out. Having said that I would say I don't know much about the local waters except there are a lot of reefs around and sometime currents.Do you have charts? Electronics GPS, depth other instruments? Email is probably the best way to contact me. Good luck and have fun what a fabulous place to sail in. I will PM you my email
