Did you notice if it had a WVA return address on the envelope?

Re: Documentation renewal

I just received a letter from our friend to renew our documentation. One difference this time their name has changed to Maritime Documentation Center and it says that they are a private firm. Seems the FTC had a chat with them. No mistaking them for the USCG this time. Hope it cost a lot to do all that work to change name.

Where did the letter come from? The CAL address was the obvious scam. The one that comes from, I think, Idaho, not so much.
I'm not sure if it is two different companies or the CAL office had to relocate.

Re: Documentation renewal

A Certificate of Documentation Courtesy Notice was received from Maritime Documentation Center.

That letter is attached, w/ my red underlines and my personal information removed.

This Courtesy Notice was received 2½ months prior to my Certificate of Documentation expiration.

Re: Documentation renewal

This letter isn't nearly as scammy as the one I fell for a year ago and the return address on the envelope is no longer West VA.

I've got a strong feeling someone from the CG or some other govt. agency had a "conversation" with these people over their business tactics.

Re: Documentation renewal

Yep, the USCG Documentation people definitely changed the wording in their Courtesy Letter during the past year.

Here is a copy of the original letter that scammed so many of us last year.

I wonder how many their business is down with the new letter?
