Catamaran windage

Hi (new to this forum) does anybody out there know how high off the water an average 50 ft catamaran sits. This affects windage and I'm curious about the amount of difference in performance and safety it makes.
Thanks in advance

Re: Catamaran windage

Freeboard is probably in the region of 2m. Then if it's a three story monster, the fly bridge might be 4m or more from the water.

Motorboats and trawlers are similar, but seldom do I see them concerned about windage much.

Re: Catamaran windage

So between 2 and 4 meters of hight to create windage thanks. Trawlers probably don't worry about windage 1 because they are a displacement type boat and 2 because a good portion of the time they have large nets out and wind won't affect them much since the nets will act somewhat like a sea anchor. Large power cats however are something I should take a look at for more info on windage.
Thanks
