Boat found abandoned in the Atlantic ocean (2013)

I saw this today...it happened in 2013 but was just released this week. Does anyone recall a lost Swan in 2012-2013. Could've broke from a mooring, could've been abandoned during a rescue, could've been solo sailor gone overboard. Just wondering if the community has any collective memory of the boat. Very scant details in the video or the article.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-b2253198.html

"Matt Rutherford and a colleague from the Ocean Research Project were sailing in the Atlantic Ocean in 2013 when they made a startling discovery: an abandoned ship floating some 800 miles beyond Bermuda.

Earlier this week, the Ocean Research Project released a video showing what happened when Mr Rutherford and his colleague spotted the boat and moved closer to investigate the situation."

Re: Boat found abandoned in the Atlantic ocean (2013)

FYI:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/208818...ship-drifting/

"According to online sleuths, the boat belonged to skipper Alan McGettigan from the Royal Irish Yacht Club.

He and crewmates Declan Hayes, Morgan Crowe and Tom Mulligan were rescued by a Greek cargo ship 64 miles north of Bermuda when their 48-ft yacht suffered two knockdowns during in 20-ft waves and 50 knots wind.

Alan activated an emergency beacon and they left Wolfhound in the water.

Nine weeks later, it was stumbled upon by Matt and his team who filmed the recovery and posted the footage to social media this week."

When it was located per the video, it had drifted a long ways: "This is absolutely crazy by the way. 800 miles from Bermuda, 1,500 miles from the US, standing on a very nice Swan 48, in the middle of the ocean."

Well! That was fast! Thank you. Any sightings of the boat after Rutherford had to abandon it?

It was much discussed on here at the time.. abandoned because they could not charge their nav gear and could not heat/cook food..

It is probably drifting east again from Bermuda.

Seems like the vessel is rather sound, just need to pump out the water in the bilge and set sails again, might need some new sails.

Maybe we will see yet another video of someone else wandering upon it.

Too bad they couldn't attach a tracking beacon so as to avail ease of relocation and salvage.

Likely either broken up on the W coast of Ireland or crushed by ice in the Artic by now.. depending which stream it ended up in.
