Boat Brokers I will Recommend

With all the broker bashing (admittedly, some of it warranted) I thought a good resource might be a list of brokers with whom CF members have had good experiences.

I'll start.

Each of the following has been very helpful in my search for boats and/or have an excellent reputation:

"Corbo" Corblishi and Rick Lenard at RCR Yachts serving L. Erie and L. Ontario.

Bill Algaier, Harborview Yacht Sales, Michigan.

Geoffrey Marsh, The Yacht Brokerage, Brisbane Australia. Tell him the guys in NY sent you.

Pat Sturgeon, Pat Sturgeon Yachts, Ontario Canada/ Lake Ontario

Bob Ross at Sail Northwest has been a great for us; we have used him twice and would not hesitate to use him again. Not only instrumental in the purchase of both our sailboats, but a good resource for anything sailing even when we were not in the market.

He is also the owner of the adjoining Seattle Sailing Club, and is very active in the local racing scene.

Re: Boat Brokers I will Recommend

Sunjin would probably know of Mr Alfred Gundry lll, an Annapolis area Yacht Broker. He deals in yachts in the 6 figures and beyond, but always makes time to speak to anyone in the market looking for a boat. Heck, we had a nice chat recently while we were both in the Boatyard Grill (Annapolis) the other day having lunch. Extremely Professional Broker, who's been in the business for over 35 years. If you have the kind of money for the price level of the boats he sells you'd be hard pressed to find a more amicable person to do business with.

Alfred Gundry lll
Interyacht Brokerage
7076 Bembe Beach Road
Annapolis, MD 21403
410-280-6100 office

Also, If you ever find yourself interested in a Ranger Tug, I spent some worthwhile time with Mr Don Finlay, the Company Sales Manager, who really listens to a customer and will give you as much of his time as he can showing you his line of boats. A person I'd feel comfortable buying a 6 figure boat from.

Don Finlay
Ranger Tugs

Kent, WA 98032

He may have retired by now but Ralph Talbot of Dick Boger Yacht Sales
2305 Beach Blvd Ste 106, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 - (904) 247-7966
did and excellent job for me when I purchased my Nauticat about 10 years ago.
I can highly recommend Ralph as an honest and easy to work with broker.

We found they spent quite a bit of time upfront understanding our needs and would provide a well considered evaluation of potential boats against that. Both why we should further consider a specific boat and also why a specific boat I had 'found' on YachtWorld or elsewhere wasn't a likely fit for us. Looking back on their advice during that time, and with considerably more cruising experience now to evaluate it, I think they did an amazing job at that.

I was also continually impressed at the amount of background information they had on specific 'bluewater' boats all over North America and further. I had numerous experiences where I would ask about a specific listing that had just come up on YachtWorld and they would almost immediately respond with personal information on it from a previous time it had sold or from spending time with the boats on their own sailing trips. This was often then followed up with queries to get more recent information, often specifically targeting information based on their previous knowledge of the boat.

Forbes Horton in Annapolis. Talked me out of a boat that in retrospect would have overwhelmed my budget in the refit. Had no issue showing me other brokers' listings

Chuck and Kelsey Grice. Atlantic Yacht Brokers, Chesapeake VA. They did it all. Nary a snag and gracious to a fault.
