Project / How-to / DIY Blogs

I love project site... the type of site that details the madness we all have fixing or upgrading our boats systems. They show photos, give explanations and give us ideas on how to do some of the basic things that all us newbies should know. I've read a lot of the books, but the four listed below have added a whole new chapter to my insanity.

I can spend hours reading every detail on these sites, but would like some more options!

First we have Mainsail's excellent How-to site:

Compass Marine Project Articles Photo Gallery by Compass Marine at pbase.com

Stella Blue's amazingly detailed (and over the top) upgrades to his boat can be seen here:

http://www.wbryant.com/StellaBoat/projlist.html

Waterwayguy's site has been great for a lot of ideas:

The Trawler Beach House

Sailingdog's way of make the most technical item easier to understand has been a great help:

Adrift At Sea

What others do you have bookmarked for me?

Glad you like our site, thanks. There is another site that focuses on small boat projects,

My current site is a mix of project reports (mostly earlier on) with reports on sailing adventures (mostly of late):

GREYHAWK's Sailing Adventures

I also have two other sites detailing projects on two smaller boats:

"Quasar," a San Juan 21

Restoration of Laser #811

Hopefully you area aware of the Plastic Classic Forum, and the projects of Tim Lackey (who really sets the bar in terms of documenting his work).

Good thread idea indeed - Googling for such things requires wading through tons of unrelated material and marketing sites.

My own contributions may be of use on occasion - much of the blog is the whole narrative of the project itself with all its twists and turns, but my whole mission profile, so to speak, is to share the geekery:

Blog | Nomadness | Geek expressionism at sea

Cheers!
Steve
