No Fixed Address
I have just been reading Clive Hamman's book "No Fixed Address." He describes being shipwrecked on his last boat in the Indian Ocean, then comming to Canada to build his dream boat, a 47 foot junk. Then he describes his trip around the world , and thru the canals of Europe, with backpackers and many crews of very interesting travelers. A hard book to put down. Not your run of the mill cruising story.

What time period does the story cover Brent? Is it relatively contemporary or way back when?

I followed the link and read the first free 3 chapters...I like his writing style/rhythm.
The story got better once he put to see.
