Garmin Autopilot Advise

My old Raymarine autohelm just busted and I am looking to buy a new one. I currently have the Garmin 741 Chartplotter so I would like to standardize on Garmin if possible. I have a hydrolic steering arm that appears to be sound so I'm just looking for the main unit.

I'm wondering what model would be the most dependable but also use the least power as I plan to make some transatlantic passages with this unit.

Have you enquired to Garmin? They can suggest several options and then you may enquire here for specific experience.

I am updating my electronics ( I'm told I'm next on the list). One of the items on the list is a Garmin controller for my Autohelm auto pilot. It has more capability than my existing controller but you kind of need to do some research to balance what you would like vs what your willing to spend.

If my wife sees this I'm probably in deep doo doo. But your question is very general, like asking who would be a good wife. 😄
