I don't know, where do you see it?

For the record, and if you actually read my posts, I agree with courtsey flags. Again, I like flying them and have something like 15 of them on Palarran, though currently not a French Flag.

But I do think your kidding yourself if you think people ashore notice them. Even people glancing up towards your spreaders are more likely to notice your radar instead of the flag. And, as for the DR Navy caring - maybe they should spend more time noticing the drug trafficing instead. It would be a bigger priority to me compared to worring about someone flying a flag from a spreader.

Re: Courtesy Flag - Caribbean

A few days ago while at Isle Des Saintes in Guadeloupe I noticed the local Customs boat touring the harbour. They stopped at all non French registered boats that were not flying a courtesy flag. The courtesy flag also demonstrates that you have cleared in.

I get the feeling that my question was taken as me being an A hole. I always planned on flying one, but wondered if it was required. So far it doesn't sound like it.

When do people normally get the flags? Do most get them ahead of time in some packge, or do you hunt them down once there?

I've got mine from Flags Importer as a string set. 20 Caribbean flags 12"x18" (on a string) for $38.50.

BambooSailor, that seems like a good alternative to sewing the flags ourselves. Have you received yours? Have had any of them flying on your spreader for a few weeks without it disintegrating in the breeze?

Thanks!

Re: Courtesy Flag - Caribbean

I have received mine and flew them. They are not super robust (made from polyester vs. nylon), but good enough. Worst enemy is sun, I suggest you apply some fabric UV protectant.
