Dave, Are you kidding. Terrorism is because of the Wests policy in the Middle East. Terrorism is carried out be followers of a particular world domination movement who haven't gotten over their loss following being kicked out of Europe centuries ago. These mad bloody killers have now moved on from individual acts of terrorism to turning into flames a great part of the middle east with the greatest of all, Iran sponsoring hostilities throughout the world.

From Europe, Middle East, Asia to the African Continent you have terror. Of recent we have seen even Governments falling and being taken over by these murderous global domination seekers.

I wish it were not so. But the reality is that we are living in a world that is spinning out of control with many parts that were once safe now no longer.

I am not kidding in saying that it is time for the cruising community to be demanding the right to arm and defend themselves while traversing seas and in foreign ports. It is time for an international convention granting the right to bear arms for private boat owners and not just the large cargo ships.

I am afraid that they will stop our cruising community before they give us the right to bear arms!

You see no threats in the next 25 years. Well what do you think about the Chinese now having more attack submarines than the United States? What do you think about the probability of Iran being able to send nuclear bombs to the United States. After all Iran is now working on ICBM's (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) with the capability of carrying nuclear warheads. Have you forgotten Iran's stated goal of nuking the United States. And lets not forget North Korea that was allowed to develop nuclear weapons under a previous American administration who have threatened to nuke the USA and have recently tested their own ICBM's that analysts say can now reach the west coast of the USA.

Oh. I forgot we are living in a much safer world now.

Yeah, especially given the fact that a disproportionate amount of terrorism is being targeted specifically at cruising yachtsmen, right?

:-)

Who is this "they" you speak of?

As an American, you already possess the right to bear arms, no?

Re: Armed Boardings in Venezuela

I would argue that places like Egypt are pretty safe for a foreigner. I was there a couple of weeks when they were overthrowing Mursi, and all the news were filled about riots, turmoil and shootings. In Cairo there are some 23million inhabitants with the surroundings, in an area 50km across. You couldn't find a riot there without a guide. Anyway worst thing I saw during my visit were three minibus drivers arguing 1 vs 2 which ended when the lone one of them took a 5' cobra from his car and the others fled the away.
It was the best time ever to see all the ancient monuments. In Giza pyramids, the most popular tourist atraction of all, were two minibuses, other one was ours. Took pictures of the sceenery without a single tourist on sight :-) One behind the camera excluded..

I may be totally alone on this, yet I refuse to mount "Little Gattle" on my aft deck if her tripod legs cannot be ordered in teak to match my other brightwork.

They being the ones that have the power to arrest..The most powerful person is someone that has the power to arrest you,correct..? It dosent take a thinking man or women to realize that the world is getting closer to a" One World unified gov"..30 yrs. ago we didnt have BRIC(s),Shanghi co-operation agreement,European Union,NAFTA, these are all one step from becoming spheres of influence..When asked what he would do if given power in Russia Gerovnoski (sp?)(crazy Russian Nationalist running for office back in the early 90s) said " America,Mexico,Canada (ie. NAFTA) changing, moving south,Europe (ie,early talk of European union) moving south(he knew better than saying moving east so he said south) Russia must move south (ie unite with former satellites) (he knew better than to say west also as the west was moving east!) What he was saying is that the west was uniting to form strategic unions (that much closer to a one world union)and Russia had to do the same ..So now instead of all these "independent" countrys you have unions that represnt in essences 3 or 4 entitys that are that much closer to a unified one world entity...When asked what the USA would do if China attacked Taiwan the USA responded by saying we would protect Taiwan ,when asked what China would do if Taiwan claimed independence China said, we swore that Taiwan would not have independence..The "Chess board of life" has been being set up for this moment for the last 30 years and we are on the cusp of "the big push"..Take heed or stick our heads in the sand, what else can we do?

i find it really funny that every american boat or house that was for sale I have seen has number of tv's, although this detracts other people from buying.

constant tv watching must really change perception of reality.

strongly suggest practising life without tv.

Re: Armed Boardings in Venezuela

The world is far safer than it has ever been before.

My earliest memory is being in London being diverted around the aftermath of an IRA bomb attack. 30 years ago two continent spanning superpowers with leaders who were both completely insane were engaging in a balls-out pissing contest with enough nuclear weapons to destroy the major population centers several times over. Glad THAT'S mostly over with.

Here in Canada in the last 10 years more people have died from the conservatives privatising the food inspection agency and rail safety inspectors than have died from terrorism.

As for Denmark not being safe to cruise anymore - hahahaha. Probably the biggest danger is that the efficiency, pleasantness and cleanliness of that Socialist Hellhole will lure you into looking for ways to gain citizenship!

I totally agree..I don't own a television myself..Way to much gray matter to sort through, best to get info first hand from knowledgeable sources...

Well, get those good folks at Tilley to custom-make one of their hats for you out of tin foil, perhaps?

Sorry, but I'm mystified what any of that has to do with your ability or right as an American cruising sailor to bear arms, as promised by the United States Constitution... Are you suggesting that all other nations should grant you the same right(s) you enjoy as an American at home, when visiting theirs?

I dunno, that sounds suspiciously like a "One World Unified Government" approach, to me...
