Route Planing and Climatology App Opinions

I am building a new app and would like some perspectives on what you find useful in your navigation preparation, a summary of your general process for preparing a passage/route, or even what resources (information) you use and how it could be improved. Or just quick feedback on the preview video below...

You can see a preview of the app here.
https://youtu.be/a8Skbrmk4Vg

The goal of this app is to mix cruising guides, route planners, and climatology (pilot charts)

Planned functionality...

-- USER LOCATION
Show Current location
Storms per month at current location

-- ROUTES
Popular routes
Port to port distances
Best time per month
Storm season per month

-- WEATHER
Storm tracks for last 20yrs
Average monthly winds

-- PORTS
Popular ports
Port season (peak,off,dangerous)
Port distance from current location
Average monthly rainfall
Temps max/min
Storms per month within 400NM

-- MAP OVERLAYS
AIS overlay
Population density overlay
Malaria/Dingue overlay
Overlay Suggestions?

Thanks you much.

There ought to be a pilot chart for piracy. How many incidents reported per year, nature of incident, date of last incident.
Perhaps also a color-code for difficulty of checking in/out and the cost, including whether officials want bribes--er--considerations.
Be nice to have (on the Pacific coast of central America), an at-a-glance guide to how swelly each anchorage tends to be, perhaps with customizable filters (like: show only places where there is 360-degree protection from swells, or only river estuaries).
Obviously, you'd want to be able to update with real-time reports, so trending hot spots for piracy could be spotted early.

Re: Route Planing and Climatology App Opinions

Perhaps ways to color code countries - and have communiy moddable color codes. This way I can share a list of countries where certain things are illegal to have on board and share that list, or where provisioning might be easier. This could even by by island or area rather than country per se.

Basic functionality without internet to include things like NOAA charts and basic routes. Compass bearings along a planned route with a way to enter in DMS or DM.XX and get out a compass bearing to carry on.

Tidal currents would be great... but short of that having the tidal tables for planning bar crossing or figuring when you want to shoot along a straight with the tide.

There is a ton that goes into it. I am probably not the best person to weigh in here as my experience is primarily with local cruising. I am not sure how expansive you want this app to be. If you can calculate which way would be the best to sail from point A to point B while avoiding the bad spots in between that would be great. Including a time - and perhaps taking the polars of a boat and currents into account? A way to build polars up by logging points of sail and speed would be great too.

I have a very long wish list, I also have some suggestions I wouldn’t part with for free unless this is going to be open source.
