Navigation in the Philippines

Trying to get organised for my next trip and looking for advice on chart options specifically for the Philippines.

In the past I've used:
- Maxsea running C-map charts and found this has very little utility as the charts are too small scale and so lack any useable detail
- Scanned in and calibrated PCGS charts operating in Seaclear - kindly passed on to me by another CF member - but unfortunately not a full set
- Paper PCGS charts and pilotage

In future, I'll continue to keep using the paper PCGS charts - which are available here (all legal & above board):

Office of Coast Survey's Historical Map & Chart Project Image Catalog

Edit: search regions, Philippine Islands

But i'd also like to have that level of detail on the chart plotter. Which seems to be achievable according to this thread:

So, Id like opinions on:
1. Is the approach described in the above thread the best way to achieve this? (transparent JPEG into GE and then into Open CPN). If this is the case, I'm quite happy to do it for all the charts (150+) available in the above link and make those available to CF members - if someone can tell me how to do it.

2. Is there another way of achieving this?
