65 ft mast and 6'6" draft

I took a Passport 47 from Annapolis down with the above specs. We sailed outside from Norfolk, VA to Wrightsville beach NC. The inside for that area looked much too dicey for me. After that we were mostly in the ICW. You definitely want the towing contract, we only needed it once but really needed it that time! We grounded a couple of times but got off. Often you will be plowing a furrow in the mud! (you can tell from your prop wash!)You will need a good set of binoculars to read the ICW markers and the latest ICW travel guide. Going the last to Lauderdale we opened about 20 bridges in one day! It was kinda fun because you can time the distance between bridge openings. (some open on schedule, some open on demand) I had no trouble north of FLorida with running aground etc. Must have got lucky! If you decide to go outside like I did, PM me for some info. If you are not spending any time in florida, then after Ft pierce or Lauderdale heading south just off the beach is great. Watch for the Thunderstorms every afternoon though! Jumping accross from Biscayne bay/no name harbor is good.
