Earthquake in Australia

Some half an hour ago we had a sizeable earthquake in the South East of Australia, felt by millions.

When this happens there is usually a similar event in other countries, such as Japan and Asia.

Let's hope there are no tidal-wave events in the near future.

It usually happens within a day or two or a few hours.

If anyone hears of an earthquake over the next week anywhere in the world I'd be interested to hear about it, thanks.

Re: Earthquake in Australia

I live in the Dandenongs,
I thought it was a very low flying plane, a big one, But the house was shaking,
It wasnt the washing machine, it was too solid for that, And I have a concrete floor, I jokingly said off hand, it was an earth quake, We dont get earth quakes very often,

But reading this, well, we have had an earth quake, Hahahahaha

The ground moved for me, Hahahahaha

I thought it was a big joke till you mentioned that.
I have the new diagonal braces made up for the stands in my garage, Going down to fit them on Tomorrow, Then it cant go any where,

Now you have me worried,

That shaking could have rocked it off its stands, forwards or back wards only, It cant go sideways, so cant hit another boat,

I wonder how the other boats held up, they are only sitting there on flimsy sticks, Monohulls with 6 sticks keeping them up straight.

Re: Earthquake in Australia

At my place in suburbia it rocked North South, but out east it rocked east west, so I can't give advice on which way it would have rocked.

Hahahahaha,

I had it fall off the stands as I was jacking it up, That was an instant heart attack, nearly cleaned up the boat beside it,

The bracing I have already made was a peice of mind thing, It will be going in today.
Then it will be impossible to fall off,

Re: Earthquake in Australia

I don't worry about my catamaran falling over in an earthquake, but when there are two monohulls on either side of me, it could be a worry.

Thats easy. you dig two big holes and drop your anchors in them, Type is irrelevant, as they are very deep in the ground, Hahahahaha Then recover your anchors with dirt with a shovel,

They wont go any where or drag, hahahha
