Re: Compass Binoculars

I have had the milspec fujinons for ten years and they are great. A friend brought his steiners on the boat so we could do a side by side comparison.

Conclusion - The optics on both were great. The compass on both was great. The Steiners won by being way lighter than the fujinons. Much less weight if you are staring through them for a long time. A less important factor was that the fujinons fit in the standard pedestal drink/binocular holder while the steiners didnt. But that wouldnt be a deal breaker for me.

Check ebay - I got a great deal there on my binoculars.

Be aware that Steiners are marketed at varying price points and is very much you get what you pay for.

I was offered a cheaper Steiner but optics were not a patch on the frontline optics.

Re: Compass Binoculars

I have had a pair of Fujinons since 1990 they have been on several boats even recovered from one that sunk. They are still clear and work as good as they did then. I wish I could say the same about me!

Here is an interesting article on Canon image stabilized binoculars. Worth a read if you are in the market for image stabilization.

Re: Compass Binoculars

I'm a big fan of Nikon Ocean Pro binocs. Comfortable, good light, good eye relief, lighted compass, very durable, not stupid expensive.
