Communication Devices

We just bought a catamaran located in the Caribbean. Plan to spend this winter there and then take it to the mediterranean in May. We are interested in tracking and communication devices. Have heard about the 'SPOT' for tracking and rescue. We want e-mail, skype, fax and telephone. Is there anything else we need? Thank you, Rodney Pierce

Big question. Wifi is available throughout the eastern Caribbean. PamFax can be used with Skype to send faxes. I use Ocens software for email wich will send a position with each email. On your crosssing you should at least have a SSB +/- a pactor modem. You can rent an iridium phone as well for voice and email with Ocens. An Epirb is also a must.
