Bob the weather guy for the South Pacific

Hi all

Hope someone can help, Ive been advised to sign up to a weather forcast service for my imminent passage to New Zealand and am looking for the contact details of a guy called Bob who's a guru for South Pacific weather.

Does anyone have a surname or email address for him?

Many thanks
Olly

I started reading Bob's blog, and signed up for his email distribution, last year in preparation for a Pacific crossing...wow...seasoned pro who really knows his stuff. Just reading his blog is very educational about Pacific weather patterns. The level of detail he delves into can be a bit overwhelming, but well worth the effort.

There is a guy a few blocks down the street from me in Kailua, HI. He does weather for a lot of cruisers, TransPac racers and deliveries to the west coast and elswhere. He in the Pali Palms Office Building, sorry I don't have time to look him up.

Re: Bob the weather guy for the South Pacific

Bob McDavit is great.

We were sailing down from Fiji and had used up our subscription.

About 100 miles out Bob emailed me with a “freebie”.

Said we are going to get a little blow, would last long and would be on us at about 15:00.

Right on schedule!

Passed quick.

Great guy!

Fantastic service by Bob McDavit. Very experienced weather man who's been retired for some years now. Especially valuable help when heading north or south to/from New Zealand.

Re: Bob the weather guy for the South Pacific

+ heaps for Bob.

His departure and passage planning services are cheap and excellent. Sure you can do it yourself, but for very little money you can have a weather professional helping you out. For the NZ passage that’s not a bad idea.
