The American imposing bureaucratic system has no right to cross borders. Full stop!

All the best,

Thanks for the further (and quite interesting and varied) replies. I suppose I could try to use my U.S. Visa card to buy directly from Vesper. I'll review the options. Thanks again to everyone who replied and fair winds to you all.

My ACR Epirb was purchased in USA, and a Canadian MMSI was setup for me, without fuss...

Alchemy, I have been interested in the same equipment for two years, during which time I know Defender has sold many units. Defender is an excellent outfit and I buy most electronics and supplies from them. They are nearby and a very good and reliable source for us. I know Alex L. at the electronics desk. He's good. Give him a call if you'd like. I will buy our Vesper at Defender. I hope this helps.

Re: A Canadian buying a New Zealand AIS from the U.S.

I bought mine from Milltech after seeing a demonstration at the St. Petersburg boat show a few years ago. It's worked a charm since then with no issues. They also entered the mmsi# no problem. so the product is excellant the service is excellant there is a Canadian distributer so go for it. At sea with an ordinary vhf antenna on an 8 ft radar post on the stern I was getting hit at 35 miles!
