Now using a Rocna 45lbs with 175' chain on my Mahe 36 anchor in SE corner in 6' of water in sandy gravely bottom.

Have never dragged using any of these anchors
I anchor in the SE corner in front of the house with the wrap around porch... close to the Oars and good holding.

Re: Which Anchor NOT to Use ? Where to Anchor ? - Block Island, RI

Does anyone know how many moorings there are in new harbor / great salt pond? I was reading an article saying there are only 96 and the wait list may be as long as 20+ years. Apparently yacht clubs occupy 25% of the moorings and there is no turnover. I have never counted the moorings but I feel like there are way more than 96?? Or maybe its just that a ton of folks are actually anchored and not moored? Anyone currently on the wait list or have a mooring? If so, how long did it take? Thanks!

I'm not sure of the total count, but there are "private" moorings, which are the ones with the long waiting list. Then there are the usual transient moorings, available every day on a first-come first-served basis.

Probably best just to call or email the harbormaster.
