I have a handy little device that threads line through the ring, and allows you to bring it back aboard. I forget the name, but I bought it at Worst Marine.

Mellenberg, Ther are private moorings in all the creeks on the Severn. All the Navy ones are clealy marked. I have been using these moorings for 30 years. I have never seen a navy boat on them. Once again these have been used for a swim, picnic or an ocasional overnight. It does not appear to be abused and I have never heard of anyone staying more than a day or two. I would be very supprised if one could get official permission to use them.

If you are looking for a mooring in Annapolis check with the harbor master as they have some better pricing for longer stays. Not cheap but better.

Re: Naval mooring balls in Annapolis

Please note that the US Navy Mooring Buoys located on the creeks off the Severn River in Annapolis, MD are to be used by U.S. Naval Academy vessels only. Other vessels that are found on the buoys will be notified to vacate the buoy and can be impounded and the owner's expense. The boys are white with a blue stripe and clearly marked "USN". If you have any questions please drop me an e-mail.

Re: Naval mooring balls in Annapolis

Spade Anchor has an alternative that cost about 10% of what a concrete mooring will cost.

25% off Skrew Moorings until Dec 31 2016.
