Broken Group Anchorages

does anyone have any experience anchoring in the broken group islands in barclay sound. i just came back from a 4 day kayaking trip there and saw a few sailboats sailing around but not sure where they would anchor.

Re: broken group anchorages

I am just back from Barkley Sound.

My favourite anchorages, in order, Joe's Bay (Turtle Island, Walsh island), Nettle Island, Effingham Bay.

I will attempt to get these on to Active Captain. Joe's Bay is listed as Walsh Island. Pinkerton Islands is a good lunch stop. I found some current there.

Also give the Port Alberni Yacht Club a visit; they are in Robber's Passage (Fleming Island)

Jack

There are a couple gaps between the islands in Joe's bay that could be problematic. Effingham has good holding in mud.

When were you there? There were some kayakers on the beach when we came in. We were on green hulled Saga 409.
