It's not always a good idea to tell the world which boat is abandoned at the anchorage. I would consider this before writing the name of my boat on the tender.
I have heard this many times. It does not make a lot of sense to me. Anyone can plainly see which boats in the anchorage do not have a dinghy present (either on davits or lifted on the side or tethered in the water) at any given moment and know that particular boat is likely vacant.
