Warrior 35 spreaders

I just bought a Warrior 35. (I've always wanted one since I worked for a charter fleet that had one in Italy in the late 70s and now they've finally got cheap enough for me to buy one!)

Mine (Kahlua, currently in Ijmouden) has a number of things that need attention, and here's one of them.

The spreaders are pretty much horizontal. Now I know that the previous owners had a mast disaster in 2007 ish whiich resulted in a new mast, boom and standing rigging being fitted, so my initial thought was that they'd been fitted wrong at that point.

But looking around the web, I find quite a few pics of other warriors which seem to be rigged the same way.

Eg this one

Yanina, here:

So, the obvious question - leave well alone or change for the 'correct' rig where the spreader angle 'bisects' the stay, i.e points slightly upwards? Any and all opinions welcome, but especially any warrior 35 owners.

And while we're at it, is there really no owners club//website for these classic boats?
TIA... Phil

Re: Warrior 35 spreaders

Hi Phil. I am new to CF hence the slow reply.

I have owned a warrior 35 for about 7 years now so might be able to help if you have any questions.

I had my rig replaced about 5 years ago but looking back at some older photos I can see that my spreaders were just above horizontal, but not quite bisecting the angle of the cap shrouds. The new Seldon rig is double spreader and both sets have a similar slightly upward angle.

I will attempt to attach a couple of pics of the before and after.

When I bought the boat back in 2006 there was a website run by a chap called Clive (I think), who owned Black Pepper, but when he sold the boat he passed the site on to Warrior owner and it all disappeared. A real shame as it was a useful resource.

Anyway, let me know if it would be useful to share any other info, and enjoy your boat! They are fantastic yachts.

Cheers

Rich
