Spinnaker pole fittings

What is the simplest way to rig up a spinnaker pole for poling out the genoa? I don't have one just now, so need to start thinking of the fittings, the mast track option looks fairly expensive??

Re: Spinnaker pole fittings

I just finished rebuilding an old spinnaker pole and adding a track to the mast. At first I thought I'd use a a simple mast-ring, but I couldn't find one that matched the curve of the mast. I didn't want to carve a backing block or hammer on the new fitting to fit. The ring was about $45. I returned it and bought 6' 1 1/4" mast track for $100. This gives me the future option to rig for a full spinnaker. There are several sliding mast cars - for now I went with a spring-loaded one. Drilled/tapped 23 holes in my mast. Ready for use.

One thing to consider, if you intend to pole out your genoa, you'll need to set the track pretty low. I set the bottom to be level with the lifelines.

Be careful, this will lead to adding a topping lift and foreguy - I'm resisting for now!!
