Mine are stainless. They are getting changed at 16 years old. Bronze will last a lot, lot longer.

My post #4 was based on s/s.

I wasn't told by the previous owner but found out later that the turnbuckle on the stbd lower had failed a few months before I bought her..... 8 year old...

Interesting article. Interesting planning ahead of damage control.
But the repeated failure of "new" stainless parts would make me seriously wonder as to whether the supplier could be trusted, at all. It sounds like they were getting defective stainless, and I'd really hate to even consider the need to have every piece of new rigging (NEW rigging) xrayed before installation simply to have confidence in it. Ouch, the wallet!
