Precision Sailmakers Victoria, BC recommendations?

I'm considering purchasing a new Genoa for my 42' sailboat thru mailorder with a sail loft by the name of Precision Sail makers located in Victoria, BC. Can anyone share positive/negative experience with this loft? Thanks for your reply.

Check to see that they are an actual sail loft with a physical presence. Also suggest you check out Island Planet Sails. Speak with Dave.

Don't know about Precision. The best sail makers in the area are the ones in Port Townsend, Washington.

Wow!! A mail order for a 42 footer. That is very brave. We are designing/purchasing a sail for our. 44 footer and need eyeball contact with the loft for all the details and there are many. The big name lofts will build offshore and finish locally. In one of those cases we needed an emergency callout from the loft for a modification not caught by the offshore assembler. Even our race sails which are to be built to one design rules, can't screw that up right, have required personal contact. Offshore lofts do good work and use all the same cloths, it's the details that will get you.

Measure twice, cut once and have it on the lofts nickel. A 500 sf headsail is nothing to guess about.

A lot of good lofts in the Seattle/Vancouver area.

FWIW, and you paid nothing.

Isn't that bit of a contradiction. Most people prefer to use a local sail loft with a good reputation first, even if they order in from overseas they are generally sailmakers, will provide backup service and know what they are doing. Failing that consider mail order sails and many options present themselves.
