Precision 14

I am looking at a Precision 14 for a first boat. I will be learning to sail on whatever I settle on. The owner is asking $900. I have not looked at the boat in person yet and would like some thoughts on this make and model. Thanks.

Re: Precision 14

I would be sailing it mostly on the Ohio River near Carrolton, KY. At first I will be mostly by myself and as I learn to use the boat my wife and our two boys would join me. We would just be out for the day or to reach a camping site. Does this boat seem suitable for such use?

Seems like it would be a great trainer.

I just looked at the Precision 16 of the same era for a daysailer at the local lake.

Some say that it's fairly quick to "turtle", so it might be good to use a masthead float while learning.

Seems like a decent price if it includes a trailer and if the boat is in good shape.

I really want to start in something fairly stable, so maybe I'll keep looking. I did see a Hobie Cat for not that much more.
