Plastimo Furler Insert

I have a Plastimo headsail furler on a 40 ft yacht. The PVC insert which guides the sail up the track has become brittle and is cracking. Does anybody know what's involved in changing it. Is it straightforward or are there tricks and pitfalls? Appreciate your experience if you have it on this matter.
