Re: Inner forestay mast hardware?

I am backwards from you: I have the hound, sail, halyard, and sheets, but not running backs, tracks, blocks or winches. I got my hound built by Garhaur, I sent them the diagram, dimensions, cutout of the mast, and they sent me the hound.

Thanks, but the really nice job was by Garhaur. The back of the paper plate was by my marina's owner, I just cut out the mast section and drew the picture and sent it all off. Pretty piece of hardware, though.

Re: Inner forestay mast hardware?

That is very similar to what I saw on riggingandhardware, and is probably what I will end up using. It looks like nice work. ____Grant.

Mine looks very similar to yours but no thru bolt or running back tangs. Also mine is only 2' below the mast head and set up as a solent stay. Had mine made in NZ 25+ years ago

But your piece is a really sweet looking unit

Piece of unsolicited advice. Buy a roll of plumbers tape and tape the inside of the piece where it touches the mast. Easily trimmed with a razor blade. Has worked excellent for me over the years and we use this on anything SS that touches the mast or boom. Cheek blocks, winch bases etc. Plumbers tape is used to wrap copper pipe before pouring concrete over it. it is NOT electrical tape

Good luck with the install

Re: Inner forestay mast hardware?

I just ordered the hounds from RIGGING ONLY. It wont ship until after the holidays, but that is fine with me. As I said before it is very similar to what Rolf showed. An interesting point is that it comes with the thru bolt, but not a compression sleeve. The man said that they are almost never used anymore, and to just snug it gently and pin it. It came to $262+shipping. I also asked about Norseman cones and he says they have a few, but not many. ______Grant.

Re: Inner forestay mast hardware?

Hounds arrived and I am very pleased. I went with the external halyard to make things simpler. I like RIGGING ONLY. _____Grant.
