Baggy mainsail question

I recently purchased a new mainsail and once raised the luff looks baggy and it gets baggier in higher winds. I don't have a downhaul or cunningham on my rig and it's raised as far as it will go. Is there something that I should be doing differently when setting the sail? Should I care? Was the sail simply cut too long for my rig?

Re: Baggy mainsail question

It might just be too long in the luff if you don't have a floating goose neck and it's all the way up.

Re: Baggy mainsail question

Cut too long on the luff. You have two solutions: send it back to the sailmaker or use a cunningham. Guess it's way less expensive to rig a cunningham, but as the sail is used the luff is going to strecht . It's allways better to have it cut several inchs short.

Fair winds

Thanks both - the goose neck is fixed. I'm going back to Quantum and see what they can do.

If they were the ones who measured it then they should fix it at their cost.
