Shallow bilge problem

Hello all,

Just found out there is lots of water at bilge while the bilge pump floating switch is not triggered since there is a shallow bilge situation.

My boat is a Bavaria 34 built in 2000.

Any one have similar problem and how to solve it ?

Usually the bilge pump and floating switch should be installed at place where is the deepest point.

,,,,

Re: Shallow bilge problem

We have a shallow bilge of about 5 inches. The solution was to stop water getting in the first place. Now we have dry dusty bilges which need hoovering once a year.

When you say lots of water, how deep?

Re: Shallow bilge problem

If it has the traditional leaky flax packing propshaft seal, about the only solution is replace it with the non-leaky variety.

If you have water coming from other places, find and stop it.

Once the constant influx of water is eliminated, shopvac on the rare occasions water gets in.
