New Black Water Marine Hose

Has anyone heard of a new black water marine hose that is a big improvement over the older type which begins to break down after a year or two and odor migrates through the hose wall? This new hose is supposed to last years longer than the present type of corrugated walled white hosing. Not sure of the name or manufacturer of this new hose.

The best for longevity and resistance to odor is the Trident 101 and 102. Chuck

Trident Sanitation Hose carries a 3 year (#140/148) or 5 year (#101/102) warranty. Nonetheless, great stuff!

Just spent a fortune on trident hoses for our boat. Great hoses!

Lots of fun to cut to length too! Not the easiet to make sharp bends so plan your routing well. it is far thicker than most hoses, so if you have holes to go through, you will need to expand them

haven't heard one bad thing about the trident..

We have had Sealand's Odorsafe for 5 years on our boat and no odor permeation yet. This is full time liveaboard living.

A bit of a challenge to get on the thru-hull but worth it in the long run.

We use the regular white hose and wrap it in Saran Wrap. No odor in 7 yrs! Cut the roll of wrap in approx 5" sections for easier wrapping. It works!

I’d still use Sanitation Hose (Trident), even though Dow’s Saran Wrap does actually provide an odour barrier.

Saran Wrap, PolyVinyliDene Chloride (PVDC), works by polymerizing vinylide chloride with monomers such as acrylic esters and unsaturated carboxyl groups, forming long chains of vinylide chloride. The copolymerization results in a film with molecules bound so tightly together that very little gas or water can get through. The result is a barrier against oxygen, moisture, chemicals and heat-qualities used to protect food, consumer and industrial products. PVDC is resistant to oxygen, water, acids, bases, and solvents.

To test it’s barrier property, wrap one-half an onion in Saran Wrap and the other half in Glad Wrap or Handi-Wrap. Wash your hands, wait 10 minutes, and smell both wrapped packages.

Thank you Gordo for the explaination. Anyone trying this is advised to cut the roll into smaller sections, unless the hose run is long and straight. The wrap will NOT bend to fit the bent contour of a hose and thus the smaller rolls are much easier to deal with.
