Mermaid hvac new pump

I have a mermaid reverse cycle hvac unit on my alberg 35. I had to replace the pump again after the second one burned out only to find out that the one the last owner had in there was nowhere strong enough to cool and heat a boat when used all the time(liveaboards). While trying to install the new pump today I realized that the hose is too short and willnt quite reach. I was wondering if instead of connecting an additional length of hose if I could use an elbow fitting for the curve? Not large mind you but just enough to allow me to connect a separate section of hose without worrying that the connections would pop from the hoses under the stress of the bend. Thank you in advance sorry its long.
